Končista is the 7th highest peak of the High Tatras and the western neighbor of Gerlach. It is located in the southern part of the main ridge of the High Tatras, which rises from Popradsky Ľadovy peak. The slopes of Končista fall from the east into the Batizovska valley, from the southwest into the Štôlska valley and the northwestern slopes into the Zlomiskova valley. Končista has 2 peaks, the lower north and the upper south, on which there was an interesting rock formation, Anvil, also named Jarmay’s table. Anvil lost its original shape in 2019, after a lightning strike, when part of it fell off the southern slope. For those who reach the top, Končistá offers views of the Batizovská valley, the Gerlachovsky peak massif, the Dračia and Mengusovska valleys.
The first recorded summer ascent to Končista took place in 1874, but it is assumed that even before that year there were ascents to the top.
The ascent to Končista can also be completed by a more demanding variant from the Zlomiskova valley with a mountain guide. Contact us for information about this tour.
Note: Part of the tour leads along the Tatra highway (to Batizovské pleso and the descent from the saddle below Ostrva). is one of the most beautiful in the Tatras, as there is a beautiful view from the top and the tourist can gain additional experience when moving off the marked trails.
